Blog Journal 5 (Online)

Hi Blog!     Working on the web design assignment was intensely satisfying. I loved the website that our class used to design our websites, as well as the ease of the UI for designing. I followed a few design principles, such as making sure that all of the assets within the website were properly spaced out (the map section on the home page with the times). I also wanted to make sure that all of the text on the site was legible so I made sure to always put dark text over a light background. This assignment helped me decide to implement a class website when I am a teacher. I really enjoy how easy the website is to edit, as well as the ability for parents and students to both be able to use it and access important class information at anytime.      One way that I could use QR codes in class is when using supplementary material. Typically when giving presentations, I will keep the text within the presentation to a minimum. However, sometimes there are materials that...

Blog Journal 4 Online

Hi Blog,      I enjoy blogging! I sort of do it already on my own, but instead of online, I do it in a journal. I have always been a fan of free writing or prompt writing, so blogging or digital journaling has always been something that I have enjoyed. I have never used Blogger before, but because of our class's use of the website, it has quickly become a tool that I enjoy using. Though I can't say that it is more enjoyable than physically journaling with a pen and notebook. I love completely decorating every single crevice of my journals and notebooks with doodles and stickers, or things that I have found throughout my days. Although Blogger is very customizable, I cannot put my Blog in my hand and drop it in some mud, permanently staining it with a memory. Blogging or journaling is such a personal art, and whenever I want to be vulnerable and personal, I like to be as true to myself as possible.      My husband showed me a tool that I use for both educati...

Blog 4

Hi Blog!     For the Computer Science Standards (Starting 2025-2026) I chose Standard 2 SC.K.PE.2 :Identify data. Two of the Lesson Plans within that Standard involve Generative AI; how it works, and how to train an AI Model. I don't feel prepared nor skilled at all in teaching anything that comes to Generative AI, as I morally object to its mainstream uses. I find that Generative AI is intensely lazy, as well as used for improper and malicious purposes. It steals data from smaller creatives, and thrives off of "prompt engineers". I really do not feel skilled nor excited to teach this at all.      For the SS.K.E.1.1 (Describe different kinds of jobs that people do and the tools or equipment used), the lesson plan "Taking Care of Business" uses the book Everybody Works by Shelley Rotner to explain various jobs and their importance. Afterwards, the students work together in small groups to show what they have learned. Personally, I dislike the practice of ju...

Hello Blog!      Copyright and fair use are both intensely important in our modern day technology based environment. As a Kindergarten teacher, I would start with having my students create a painting of something that is important to them. This will create in my students a sense of ownership and connection to their creation. Then, I would have the students give their art piece to another student, and have them recreate the other student's piece. I would then have the students talk about how they feel when someone recreates their work. Are the other students stealing your work? Do you feel proud that someone tried to recreate something you made? And through that, I would then explain fair use, and how you can copyright your work, to save it from being used by others, if you wish. I personally think that Copyright and Fair Use are important to my own work, as I am very emotionally attached to my art work. If I were to post my art online, I would definitely be scared of AI t...

Blog Assignment #2

Hello Blog!!      My experience using MS Word as a student has been grand. It is my preferred word processing software, and I was trained to use it when I was in middle school. I have been using it every year since middle school for assignments and non-school related writing. For me personally, the editing abilities that its uses and the OneDrive software works best for my daily needs.      The ISTE Standard that resonated the most with me is 2.4.a, Collaborating with Colleagues. I find it so important to work with your colleagues to not only better understand your overlapping students, but to gather as many different perspectives and tools that you can to better your own pedagogy. What is the most important to me about Collaborating with Colleagues is that this time is paid. There needs to be specific times for teachers to be able to workshop lesson plans as well as discuss issues or progress of their students. I hope that eventually teachers as a whole ar...
