Blog Assignment #2

Hello Blog!!

    My experience using MS Word as a student has been grand. It is my preferred word processing software, and I was trained to use it when I was in middle school. I have been using it every year since middle school for assignments and non-school related writing. For me personally, the editing abilities that its uses and the OneDrive software works best for my daily needs. 

    The ISTE Standard that resonated the most with me is 2.4.a, Collaborating with Colleagues. I find it so important to work with your colleagues to not only better understand your overlapping students, but to gather as many different perspectives and tools that you can to better your own pedagogy. What is the most important to me about Collaborating with Colleagues is that this time is paid. There needs to be specific times for teachers to be able to workshop lesson plans as well as discuss issues or progress of their students. I hope that eventually teachers as a whole are given more paid time for collaboration. 

    I definitely agree with the label digital native. Digital natives are children who were born into the world of today, one that is completely full of technology. One of the most obvious differences between my generation and my teachers' generation is that learning new technology comes way easier to us than them. It was always a really awkward time watching teachers struggle over the use of Smart Boards or different online software. I know that eventually the students that I teach for will be miles ahead of me in terms of whatever types of new technology come out. I know that I am absolutely terrible at AI and virtual reality types of technology, and I hope to eventually overcome those difficulties.
